Chance and the Chicago Transit Authority turn the Red Line into the STAR LINE
Early Friday morning, Chance the Rapper surprised fans and CTA riders with a history-making moment at his childhood train stop, and of course, Eventnoire was there to capture a few shots of the festivities and bring you along for the ride!
Instructions were simple, fans were told to check in by 10 a.m. at a secret location, only to be released once they’d secured an RSVP, and apparently, space would be limited and entry would only be granted on a first-come, first-served basis. Much to everyone’s surprise, that secret location was a CTA Red Line station, and the destination? 95th & the Dan Ryan in celebration of Chance’s latest, latest debut: A train fully decked out with his face, which is featured on the cover of his latest album: STAR LINE.
Essentially, your favorite rapper and Chicago’s favorite transportation authority joined forces to drop a very special collab and turn the Red line to the STAR LINE!
Those who came along for the ride were greeted at the end of the line with a surprise party featuring free CTA and Eventnoire merch in the signature green-and-purple Starline color scheme, a candy table full of some of Chance’s favorite classic Chicago snacks, exclusive Chance the Rapper & CTA artwork, and of course, a backdrop for photo ops with The Rapper, himself.
Chance addressed the crowd, thanked everyone for waking up early to join him, and expressed his appreciation for the CTA, exclaiming just how crazy it is that he has “his own train!”
You can hear more from Chance tonight, Friday, Oct 10. when he performs at Waverly Island for his AND WE BACK TOUR, or on his new album, STAR LINE. Listen here.
