Howard Homecoming 2026 lands in Washington, DC, October 15 through 18, and the city has been counting down all year. It is the homecoming of homecomings. The century old tradition fills DC with more than 100,000 alumni, students, and culture lovers every fall. Here is everything you need to know about the biggest Howard Homecoming 2026 events, from first toast to final brunch.
For event lovers, this is the measuring stick weekend. Long before the parties, homecoming has been the moment when Black excellence comes home: the Yard, the game, the reunions, the outfits. Today it is also a cultural moment that pulls celebrities, creators, and executives to the nation’s capital. The crew behind Homecoming at Howard has produced the definitive Bison experience since 2006. This year’s calendar centers the Blaque Mecca Block Party, the HU Bar Crawl, the Comedy and Karaoke Brunch, and the game itself.
The pull has always been bigger than the parties. The Notorious B.I.G. once hinted he might show up in DC for homecoming. Ludacris built his schedule around never missing it. The Washington Post once chronicled a night when Drake, 2 Chainz, Meek Mill, and T.I. all touched Howard Homecoming. The names change every year. The energy never does.
Your Day by Day Guide to Howard Homecoming 2026
Thursday, October 15: The weekend opens at The Park at 14th with two signature kickoffs. A Toast to Equity pairs a happy hour with a fireside chat connecting Howard alumni, entrepreneurs, executives, and changemakers. Limited access, exceptional company. Then the 11th Annual HU and SpelHouse Alumni and Friends Happy Hour takes over. Expect cocktail specials, good food, and some of the hottest DJs in the DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia). This is where homecoming begins. Pro tip: The Park at 14th anchors the whole weekend, so make it your first stop.
Friday, October 16: The U Street crawl. The 10th Annual HU Bar Crawl brings more than 2,500 Howard and Morgan alumni, professionals, and friends to U Street. Think drink specials, open bars, and giveaways. It lands during Halloween week. Show up in your best HBCU (historically Black colleges and universities) gear or your best costume.
Saturday, October 17: Game day and Blaque Mecca. The Bison host Morehouse College for the homecoming game. The real tailgate happens at the 5th Annual Blaque Mecca Block Party at Metrobar DC. Howard, Spelman, and Morehouse alumni run an all day outdoor celebration with live DJs, food trucks, games, and premium cocktails. It fills an 11,000 square foot venue built around a repurposed Metro railcar. Come for the game. Stay for the celebration. Saturday night keeps rolling with Homecoming Nostalgia at The Park at 14th. It is a reunion of friends, classmates, and generations of Bison dancing through the moments that made Howard unforgettable.
Sunday, October 18: Brunch sendoff. The 8th Annual Comedy and Karaoke Brunch plus Day Party closes the weekend on the Hard Rock Cafe DC rooftop. Expect live comedy, karaoke, a brunch buffet, and a soundtrack of R&B, Afrobeats, hip hop, soul, and trap. Laugh, sing, and reconnect before you head home.
