Hip-hop legend and business mogul Nas just scored a major win in the world of gaming and entertainment. His bid for a $5 billion casino and resort project in Queens has officially been approved, just days after a competing proposal backed by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation was voted down. The project, backed by Resorts World, is set to transform Queens into a global entertainment destination creating thousands of jobs and injecting billions into New York’s economy.
Nas, who grew up just miles from the site, called the win “a full-circle moment” for the city and the culture. This victory also signals a new chapter for hip-hop entrepreneurs expanding their influence beyond music, from venture capital to hospitality and now, casino gaming. As Nas’ team put it, “We win again.”
