For a lot of small brands, November and December bring in more sales than any other stretch of the year, but it’s hard to get noticed when every big retailer is running a sale at the same time. Eventnoire wants to help with that. This year we’re putting together a holiday gift guide filled with products from our community, for our community.
It’s a good crowd to get in front of. The person who always knows where the party is tends to be the person who always knows what to get you, too, and Eventnoire’s community is full of those friends. This time of year they’re looking for gifts that feel a little more personal than whatever’s on the endcap at Target.
Brands that want a spot in the guide can submit now through Nov. 20. The team will pick its favorites for a holiday gift list on eventnoire.com and share them on social, too. The form lists five categories, from beauty and wellness to kids, but a brand doesn’t have to fit one of them to apply.
Who’s Eligible
Any brand can apply, and founders will see a question on the form asking whether their business is Black-owned. There are only a couple of requirements beyond that. Products have to be sold online, and brands need to be able to get orders to customers before the holidays. The form asks for each brand’s holiday shipping cutoff date for that reason. Additional terms and conditions may apply.
Before You Fill Out the Form
The first half of the form covers the basics, and most founders could fill it out from memory. The product section is where it’s worth slowing down a little. A brand with a dozen items on its site doesn’t need to submit all of them, and it usually makes more sense to pick the one or two that would make the best gift and lead with those. Think about what someone would be excited to unwrap, or what a friend would ask about after seeing it at a holiday party. Founders will also need their price point handy, and they’ll be asked whether they ship nationwide.
The photo upload is required, so it’s worth taking a few extra minutes on it. A clean, well-lit shot shows the team how a product would look in the guide, while a busy background or dim lighting can make even a great product easy to pass over.
Submissions close Friday, Nov. 20. That leaves a couple of weeks, but the holidays have a way of sneaking up on everybody.
